Evaluation - Question 4

Question 4 - Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience for my media product would be the social groups that I am representing which are teenage girls and pop music fans. My audience would be teenage girls aged 14-16. My reasoning for this is because the dominant ideology of the pop music genre creates the idea that the majority of buyers for pop magazines are teenage girls.

Here I have created a typical physical profile for someone likely to be from my target audience:

This would be a stereotypical representation of the type of individual I expect would fit into my target audience.
The age range can vary from 12-16 but ideally would fit into the 14-16 range. She would dress fairly fashionably, often keeping up with the latest friends and enjoys buying new clothes at the weekend with her pocket money. She would shop in places like New Look, Topshop, H&M, River Island and Miss Selfridge.
The music she would listen to would mainly be centred around the pop music genre, listening to artists and groups such as: One Direction, Taylor Swift, The Vamps, Katy Perry, JLS, Rihanna, Jessie J, Little Mix, Olly Murs and Neon Jungle. Often tuning into radio stations such as Capital FM and Radio 1 for the latest chart hits and The UK Top 40.
She enjoys films like Mean Girls, Angus Thongs & Perfect Snogging, The Holiday, Bride Wars, Bridesmaids, St Trinians and Sex & The City.
TV shows that they would watch would include: Hollyoaks, The Big Bang Theory, Friends, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and also various music channels such as MTV, 4Music and VIVA.
Other hobbies would include meeting up with friends, going to pop concerts, texting and shopping.
Most visited websites would include Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Tumblr.
Other interests relating to music would be downloading and listening to pop music on websites such as YouTube and watching interviews with artists on TV.
Buying habits would include pop magazines, make-up and clothes.

My target audience is teenage girls aged 14-16 and therefore in full time education, perhaps not having their own source of income and so enjoy cheap magazines packed full of content.
